An estimated 528,000 cases of cervical cancer occurred, with 266,000 deaths . This is about 8% of the total cases and total deaths from cancer.About 70% of cervical cancers occur in developing countries. In low-income countries, it is the most common cause of cancer death. In developed countries, the widespread use of cervical screening programs has dramatically reduced rates of cervical cancer.
In India, the number of people with cervical cancer is rising, but overall the age-adjusted rates are decreasing.
One fine day , i was with my camera on my bike going to near by village to photograph with their daily rotin work , as i saw a small group of boys were playing a cricket , i stopped for a second , just thinking that if there where girls around , n suddenly what i saw , was unbelievable. two girls where came n started playing with them. i got down from my bike n want to shot this girls. That was the first time i met her, her name is Sasikala 11yr girl , a very naughty n active, she was full of energy , she was very free with me. she is studying in 7th. i finished my shots n came back.
after 2 or 3 week , i was going on my bike , a girl was going home after finishing her school, with dirty torn clothe's , bear footed , she asked me for lift, and i gave it, on the way she asked me "Akka how r u ? "( as usual, i dont remember , they have to intro me again ) So ,i asked do you know me ? she again introduced me of our first meeting , i was so surprised on this. like this 3 to 4 times i met her. One day i met her , she was so silent n depressed , she was washing the cloths n didnt talked to me as she was before , than i asked her what is the matter , why your so silent, what happend ?
She gave me shocking news , that her mother is admitted in hospital as she is suffering from so called cancer , n doctor gave a limited days , n she stared crying . i don't know what to do , than asked her all the details , and waited for her mother , when her mother ( Mariyama ) returned from the hospital , i want n met her in her house , she was lying down on the floor, with her , her two daughters where there, i introduced myself , n told her daughter told me about her health issues .
Mariyama , she is 46, In pondy Doctors said its not a curable, u can take her to home. Her husband died in accident 10yrs ago, she has two daughter's n a son . son 18 is working in Bangalore as a labour , he is the only person to earn. the big sis , she was working in a fancy store in Chennai , but left the job to look after her mother, the small one was that little girl.
Mariyama's only wish is that her daughter's should lead a nice life, for that she will do anything .
i told her not to worry everything will be fine ,
now i asked one of my friend to help this family, and he said he will , he consulted his friend Doctor about this , they said they will give free treatment to Mariyama ..
Once mariyama called me an said please dont forget me n my children's, we really need u r support . sasikala shared her pain with me , n am glad to help her ..
